Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with deep Node.js expertise and strong Next.js experience to build and scale the backend systems powering Automios products such as JanVaidya, Campus360, SANTHOS, and our AI Chatbot platform. You will design APIs and services that are secure, performant, and reliable for healthcare and enterprise-grade workloads, and mentor other engineers on the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs using Node.js (Express/NestJS or similar).
• Develop server-side features in Next.js: API routes, SSR/ISR, middleware, and integration with backend services.
• Model and optimize relational and NoSQL data stores (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis); write performant queries and manage migrations.
• Implement authentication/authorization (JWT, OAuth2, RBAC), data validation, and security best practices (OWASP).
• Integrate third-party services and internal AI/ML services; build webhook, queue, and event-driven workflows (Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS).
• Own performance: profiling, caching strategies, rate limiting, and horizontal scaling of services.
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code; drive code reviews and raise the engineering bar.
• Collaborate with DevOps on containerized deployments, CI/CD, and observability of backend services.
• Mentor mid-level and junior developers; contribute to architectural decisions with the Solution Architect.
Requirements & Qualifications
• 8+ years of backend development experience, with 5+ years of production Node.js.
• Strong hands-on experience with Next.js in production (API routes, SSR, deployment patterns).
• Expertise in TypeScript, asynchronous programming, and API design.
• Strong database skills: PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, query optimization) and at least one NoSQL store.
• Experience with microservices or modular monolith architectures, message queues, and caching (Redis).
• Solid grasp of security, testing (unit/integration), and Git-based workflows with CI/CD.
• Experience building systems that handle sensitive data (healthcare/fintech-grade) is a strong plus.
Good to Have
• Exposure to AI/LLM API integration, vector databases, or chatbot backends.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and at least one major cloud platform.
• Contributions to open source or strong system-design fundamentals.
